Both metaphysically and stylistically intriguing glorious nemesis is a work that belongs alongside those by eta hoffmann and his heirs meyrink and leo perutz at their most daring kubin and the like curious stuff and very much of its time its nevertheless quite fascinating. Why cant modern novels be more passionately unhinged like glorious nemesis by ladislav klma im sure theyre still being written but few of those are championed and most of what is held up as the highest expression of the form are dull and lifeless. Glorious nemesis is a tale of obsession and passion and dissociation from reality as the main character says what is a dream except the continuation of reality or is reality the continuation of the dream and indeed the whole novel moves along this continuum. While waiting patiently for that game i thought id try to build the nemesis ship using my existing terrain sets it was a bit tricky getting the doors and and numbering correct but hopefully pictures will help me with future builds of this a few of the rooms were a bit tight so i may expand the ship slightly the next time i build it out. I kept thinking of hoffmann while i was reading glorious nemesis because like hoffmann here is a tale of constant overlap recurring image and an absolute sense of being untethered from the world the golden pot is the closest comparison texturally except that in klimas work there is a different thematic overlay
